Pet Fostering Program

Twenty-five percent of dogs in shelters are purebred dogs, due in large part to irresponsible breeders and dog owners. As breeders, we believe it’s our responsibility to help place needy animals. Amy’s Acres houses and sponsors dogs and other species. On this, our King Shepherd site, we will be supplying information about pets that need adoption. New pictures and information will be updated as situations change. If you are interested in a pet posted for adoption in the future, we will have you contact us at info @ amysacres.com , and we will either direct you to the organization we are sponsoring or we will post an application.

duke fosterWe currently have a horse that will be needing a home, “Duke”(left). We are assisting two county localanimal officers in placing this gelding. His feet, severely overgrown when he came to our farm, arestarting to look good now.He will be going into training soon and when he completes that he will be offered for adoption. Sadly, large animals in need too often go without help even when complaints are filed because local animal control facilities usually are not equipped to house or handle them. Without offers from folks skilled in handling themand ready to foster them, the plight of neglected large animals is grim.

Placed pets find a new home, a new life

We usually receive updates from our placed animals new owners, and would like to share them with you on our “testimonials” page. It is thrilling and so rewarding to know that we have enabled a neglected animal to find a loving home. We also would like to share in celebration of friends gone over the rainbow on our Greener Pastures pages.

Supporting local Humane Societies

We hope to help raise funds for the Ogemaw County Humane Society this Spring 2006 by having a farm day here at AAKS, with all proceeds going to the OCHS.

The OCHS sponsors an annual “Mutt March” fund raiser. Amy’s Acres is proud to be one of the 2006 Top 10 Highest Pledge Earners, helping raise money to build and support an animal shelter in Ogemaw County, Michigan. They have already purchased land but have so far raised on about half the money needed to actually build the shelter. Anyone wishing to donate to this great cause, please send contributions to: Ogemaw County Humane Society, P O Box 231, West Branch, Michigan, 48661. Check here for highlights of the OCHS 2006 & 2007 “Mutt March”.
