Cilla (left) delivered 11 BIG beautiful pups— 8 males and 3 females — on June 12th, sired by our Onyx, (right) This litter produced a variety of coat colors: 5 solid black males, 1 solid black female, 2 black & tan males, 1 black & red male, and 2 black & red females. (For those unfamiliar with the solid black coat, here are recent photos of a male black coat — Nitro — from Cilla's 2007 litter sired by our Polar.) Cilla has a gentle and willing temperament that shows in her role as a certified therapy dog. This is Cilla's final litter, so if you like the puppies she produced in the past, this really is your last chance to have one of her pups. Five deposits are open for this litter.

Lil' Red (dam. left) will be bred with Jack (sire, right) in July, pups expected in September. We expect this combination to produce some very nice pups with great temperaments. We are accepting deposits (including through PayPal) on the Lil' Red/Jack litter now.

PJ's owners are devastated. They lost their puppy in a hit-by-car in June. He lived such a very short life, but gave back so much in that short amount of time. He was one of the most loving pups we ever raised. PJ's owner honors his short life on his profile page.

Cilla, as a certified therapy dog, is a great animal ambassador. Five hours a week, Cilla spends time at a local Skilled Nursing Facility. She truly looks forward to all the pats and hugs she gets from the residents who adore her kind soul. Sometimes we take one or two of her pups. Since several of her puppies have also become therapy or assistant aid dogs, you can tell her offspring tend to inherit her happy personality and gentle temperament, qualities anyone would want in a dog. Amy's Acres King Shepherds attended the Seven Lakes Classic in Holly, Michigan on Sept 7th. Powder took Best In Breed and three Best Of Opposites, and earned her International Championship Title — Powder is the first all white King Shepherd to ever be Titled a Champion! (see paragraph below on white coat ) Brutis took three Best In winners. Special thank you to our professional handler, Suzy Graham, who does so well with Powder in the show ring. Although the white coat is a disqualifying color by the KSD breed standard (as it is for the common white GSD and long coated shepherds), it is still a color fancied by many including ourselves.

Our King Shepherd puppies are raised to be good canine citizens

An Amy’s Acres King Shepherd puppy is born in and resides in our home until, sometime after the age of eight weeks, the pup leaves to be with its new families. Our King Shepherd puppies go to their new homes accompanied with veterinarian health certificates and hip guarantees, and are vaccinated, wormed, and microchipped. We are confident that our puppies start life strong and healthy because their parents are bred only after reaching the correct maturity and after being “given the OK” by our veterinarians.

Our own King Shepherds attend obedience classes and go everywhere with us, so they are well-socialized. They are health, hip, temperament and DNA tested, and this information is readily available to potential owners prior to their decision to add one of our pups to their family.

Please note that the King Shepherd breed is still very much in development, which we understand can be confusing for everyone involved. Although we are proud to be a King Shepherd Club International Recommended Breeder, in our opinion, a dog deemed Champion by Rarities Inc and North American Kennel Club (NAKC) is the true qualifier of breed standard, not recognition by any “club”, “organization” or “association” other than Rarities/NAKC (not even one’s own). A great place to start learning about the breed is to visit the King Shepherd Club International forum where KSD owners and breeders respectfully share information, ask questions and contribute to learning about this wonderful breed.

By clicking on any dog’s picture on the “Our Shepherds” page, you will be taken to that dog’s profile where you will find photos and info about the dog, its parents and siblings, and its pedigrees. As we update each King Shepherd’s profile, we will post health/hip and training certificates, and DNA information as it becomes available.

Amy’s Acres King Shepherds is located on a small farm in central northern Michigan, near Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron. Our King Shepherds are raised as part of a large animal family that includes other dog breeds, horses, birds, cats, and our special favorite, a Michigan bobcat who thinks he is one of the pack.
