Any animal placed by Amy's Acres Rescues is, by contract, to be returned to us if the animal is no longer wanted or needs to be rehomed. This is the same requirement stated on our puppy contracts. Having taken an animal into our lives, we feel it our responsibility to assure them of a good life to the end.

AAKS Note: Jet settles in as schooling horse: Jet came to us with an ulcerated left eye. It was removed with no problems for this old equine, and he is now giving a young girl much happiness as her horsey friend. Here is a note from Jet’s seven year old Junior Rancher rider in April ’06 and then four months later.

senior equinesenior equine04/06: “Thank you for lending Jet to me. I appreciate it and I love him very much! He did very great at his vet visit [having his teeth floated] and as soon as he was done N. put him outside because after his shot he was in lala land [from the anesthetic]. Mom says he was drunk! Well I guess I just wanted to say thank you for letting us use him.”

08/06: “It’s nice to know that there are still people who take such pleasure in doing special things and making others feel good . . . Thank you, Amy, you’re really a special person. Jenny & Sara” (photo left)

08/06: “Last week, Daddy offered to buy Jenny a younger horse in which to train with.jet Wow, I thought that was fantastic since he doesn't much care for equines. Our very close friends just purchased a new horse for their daughter. I think I told you about them, their old guy has navicular and is now a pasture pet. We let Jenny ride him the other day after Lexie's lesson with Noel. I wanted to see how she handled a younger, more energetic charge. After which I told her that Dad said it was time she got a younger horse so I asked Jenny if she wanted a gaited horse or a quarter horse. Her answer was simple. "I want Jet as long as he wants me." I have explained that Jet can jog, we’ve never asked him to do it, maybe he knows that not take her any further than what she has gotten from him. Yes, he trots, and he is even cantering. But I don't allow too long a session of either gait. I'm going to see if he knows how to gait too. Regardless, Noel said if she works hard enough with him, he will be ready to show next year. She is so excited. By the way, he likes Cinnamon Crunch Cereal.”

AAKS NOTE 12/06: Jet has passed on over the rainbow. Our hearts go out to his little friend, and we remember Jet always as a big-hearted old boy who will be sadly missed. — Amy
